At Raytheon, Lab Assets were rarely allowed outside of the assigned lab because they became nearly impossible to track. Assets, were however, needed across labs. I was asked to design a tracking system to monitor use and movement of the assets. The system had to handle assets, locations, scheduling, user identities and roles, and status monitoring.
